La final entre los titanes de Glasgow tuvo lugar en el recién construido Hampden Park ante una gran cantidad de público. Los Rangers comenzaron espectaculares, tomaron una clara ventaja desde el principio por mediación del jóven de 23 años, Finlay Speedie, y parecía que iban a defender el título con facilidad. Sin embargo, »Jimmy« Quinn, que tenía dos años más, anotó tres tantos para poner al Celtic por delante. Uno de los pilares de los vencedores fue William Orr (20.6.1873-26.2.1946), que nació en Shotts (Lanarkshire) y jugó primero en el Airdrie Fruitfield y el Airdrionians antes de trasladarse a Inglaterra en febrero de 1894, donde jugaría en el el Preston North End. Desde mayo de 1897 a 1907 jugó en el Celtic de Glasgow. Ganó la liga escocesa en cuatro ocasiones y la Copa escocesa en tres. Fue un volante polivalente, después se convirtió en defensa, y fue internacional escocés en tres ocasiones.
