En los octavos de final, el defensor del título “Hearts” perdió contra el Third Lanark (2:5), y el “Hibs” cayó ante el Glasgow Rangers (0:3). El club de Edimburgo St. Bernard's fue eliminado en los cuartos de final por el conjunto de Segunda División Dumbarton FC. En las semifinales, 6.000 espectadores presenciaron como los “Sons of the Rock” derrotaban al Kilmarnock FC (fundado en 1869) por un margen de 4:3. El Rangers se plantó en la final con seguridad, ganando en Morton en su último obstáculo ante una multitud de 12.000 aficionados. La final estuvo bastante desnivelada, aunque el equipo de Segunda División aguantó un buen resultado hasta al término de la primera parte. Los cinco goles del Rangers los marcaron los mismos jugadores que habían marcado ya siete en la semifinal. Su portero, Matthew Dickie (19.8.1873-30.12.1959), había fichado procedente del Renton FC.
