Después de la prematura eliminación del defensor del título Glasgow Rangers, la suerte se alió con el Celtic en los octavos de final, ya que el “Hibs” (Edimburgo) había alineado a un jugador indebidamente. El Celtic fue capaz de darle la vuelta al marcador (2:0) en el desempate. Sin embargo, en los cuartos de final, los “Celts” sucumbieron ante el Dundee. El defensa Combe Hall decidió lo que fue semifinal y derby local de Edimburgo, ante 15.000 espectadores. En la final, los centrocampistas del St. Bernard’s demostraron su clase, y el exterior “Jim” Clelland marcó los goles de la victoria.
